Can't believe they print these ridiculous statments of course it's increased the bl***y shops have reopened !
Why did'nt he just say tripled. But would of expected an even bigger increase if compared with last Monday. Perhaps they meant compered to same period in previous years
mine wasn't
bobb; what does 'up by 200%' mean? And does it really matter?
If sales at are place go up 200% it means from like 100 to 300.
I didnt say it did matter here- dont know what there comparing
What kind of shopping? If it was shops that were closed last week then it couldn't have gone up by 200% (which is indeed tripled) because a 200% increase on nothing is nothing.
But 30% down on two years ago

Naturally it’s up - it’s by how much, I suppose, that’s the thing
Lots of shops have been open all the way through
Am assumeing it just means overall increase in footfall in a typical shopping mall or typical high street
In which case it's actually a very low increase.
Well it’s threefold, which seems quite a lot to me :-)
I'm just thinking of my local high street that during lockdown probably only ever had about 10 people wandering it at any time during lockdown (as Boots and Superdrug were the only open shops) so 30 with all the shops open is very little more. It's all relative I suppose.
Very unscientific I agree
As someone suggested above I think the likelihood is they are talking about shopping centres.
