I'm late to the party but I would have had the same reaction as you. As for your son being an 'adult' so what -that does not mean you can't stand up for him does it? Honestly, I would complain but in a 'heads up' sort of way pointing out the inappropriate comment. If that had been said to my son I'd be livid.
