How To Print A Pdf Without Pictures And Colour?

I would like to print a PDF document but there is a lot of colour, background and pictures etc. It is a terrible waste of ink to print it all off. So can I somehow just print the text?
I have tried clicking where it says "convert to a word document" but I think I need to have a special programme on my laptop to do it, or else I have to pay for the programme.
Can anyone advise if I have any options?

Can you not just copy and paste the text onto a blank word doc.

I`ve done it often editing out the details that you dont want, most printers have a grey scale only option.
