SNP defections to Salmond's new band of brothers. First Brexit, then Labour defections, Labour's terrible G.election, now SNP split. At this rate, Tories will be in power forever.

The on-going SNP civil war keeps on-going.No complaints from us non-nationalists.Randy Sandy versus Virgin Sturgeon. Might make a good porno movie?
khandro: "Douglas; With 16,000 children being assessed as homeless in Scotland*, not to mention the worst teenage drug addiction in Europe, don't you think the SNP leadership should have higher priorities than independence from Britain & desire to lead its people, like lemmings, into the failing EU ? " - come on Khandro, hatred of England is far more important!
The recent trend is for egomaniacs to create their political party. We have had Nigel Farage and Lawrence Fox doing it, now Alex Salmond wants to get in on the act
The other two you mention did so because none of the mainstream parties were prepared to adopt their preferred policy on a particular issue. But Scotland there is a well established party that seems to concentrate on little else but the quest for independence. So unless you've been following the ridiculous SNP saga, you might wonder what his motives are.
I haven’t checked, but I would guess that homelessness and drug addiction are the remit of the Home Secretary, not the devolved Governments ?
I cannot see the Alba Party getting anywhere, to be honest. One would assume that the vote in the regional lists would be divided between the SNP and Alba, thus depriving the Nationalists of an overall majority.
// Drug policy is NT devolved. //

quite possibly 2 years ago, when your link was published?
// The UK-wide Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 prevents the Scottish Government from pursuing their public health approach to drugs policy and from implementing evidence-based interventions to address the specific drivers of problem drug use in Scotland, notably around safer consumption facilities.

“This means the Scottish Government is prevented from pursuing the best possible health outcomes for people who are, or have been, drug users.” //

I can find no evidence that the 1971 Act has been amend in the last 2 years.
