That states when relatives can travel a long distance to stay with you for maybe a week?
Not from another country, but from a different county that is over 200miles away and too far to travel there and back in a day.

Stage three (no earlier than 17 May)?

Can't see where you can go and stay in someone else's house in the link.
The distance is immaterial. There have never been any distance restrictions in any of the Covid legislation. You can either do something - in which case there are no distance restraints -or you can't.

The "Road Map" consists of three steps. The rules for Steps one and two prohibit "gatherings" indoors entirely. Nobody can visit you, you cannot visit anybody else. There are exceptions for work, education etc. Only when you get to Step 3 are gatherings allowed of up to six people or two households (if the total is greater than six).

The current plan id for step 3 to be implemented no earlier than May 17th.

Can I take it then NJ that we will not know if someone can stay with a different family for a short stay until May 17th?
//Can't see where you can go and stay in someone else's house in the link.//

The important point is that it doesn't say you cannot do it. The law in this country works on the basis that everything is permitted unless it is specifically prohibited - something that seems to have suffered somewhat from oversight during the last year.

I think the wording is "not earlier than 17th May." I would hope if it's going to be later some notice will be given because among other things it means pubs and restaurants can open to indoor customers on that date. They will not want to stock up if they are to remain closed for another month.
It will be possible under Step 2 but not earlier than 12th April.

“110. Additional premises will be able to reopen but should only be visited alone or with
household groups: non-essential retail; personal care premises such as hairdressers, salons and close contact services; and indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and spas (but not including saunas and steam rooms, which are due to open at Step 3).

***Overnight stays away from home in this country will be permitted*** and self-contained accommodation - those that do not require shared use of bathing, entry/exit, catering or sleeping facilities - can also reopen, though must only be used by members of the same household. The Government will open public buildings such as libraries and community centres. Activities such as driving tests may also resume.”

THECORBYLOON it says it right there.

I'm talking about someone from one household going to stay in the home of another household for a week.
I read the "must only be used by members of the same household." as relating to the,
"and self-contained accommodation etc."
However reading it again and looking at the infographic in my link, it is clear it refers only to households who go away and then stay overnight.
But I don't see anything that prevents one family staying with another.

I disagree with a lot of the legislation. This is not because of its principles but because a lot of it has been badly and hastily framed. This seems to be a case in point. If the government's strategy prevents me from sitting in the corner of a quiet restaurant for a meal I think it has missed a trick if it allows me to spend a weekend with a couple and their two adult children who all live in the same house and who might go to four different places of work.

The rules prohibit it , but the law doesn't say you can't do it

I'm a bit unclear here NJ -Can you please check
he first comment was about indoor "gatherings" under Steps 1 and 2, Baz:

Participation in gatherings indoors

1.—(1) No person may participate in a gathering in the Step 1 area which—

(a)consists of two or more people, and
(b)takes place indoors.
---

The second comment was about indoor gatherings which will be allowed (up to six people) under Step 3:

---
Participation in gatherings

1.—(1) No person may participate in a gathering in the Step 3 area which—

(a)consists of more than six people, and
(b)takes place indoors.
---

Barsel asked

"Can't see where you can go and stay in someone else's house in the link."

I was explaining that since "gatherings" of up to six are allowed under Step 3 and since the legislation places no conditions on those gatherings (distance, duration, etc.) there was nothing to prevent people from remaining overnight (or for any other duration) in somebody else's house where they have legally "gathered".

Hope that's clear.
