when one is talking about seas and oceans, warmer areas have a greater amount of species present and greater biodiversity than colder climes. So I don't understand why we should be concerned about a predicted 1-2 percent increase in sea temperature that may, overall, have a positive effect.

Warmer climates don't suit all species. Even if they did, why is that an advantage?
If you lived in those parts of the world which would simply cease to exist after such a degree of global warming (such as large parts of Florida, for example), perhaps you might be more concerned about it?

Melting polar ice caps and the impending disaster attached with it obviously do not register with some I guess?
It has to be better than that ice age that was all over the place when I was a child.
Eh? Come on, you must remember it, brrrrrrrrrr.

Warming is easier to monetise, apparently.
The climate has been going hot and cold for many thousands of years and animals and plants have adapted, why would they stop doing so now.
Yes but now man made climate change issues mean the problems far worse. Yes theres some people who make a living out of climate change but scientists almost all agree now it need's sorting out
The earth has always cooled and warmed up for whatever reason. Instead of spending billions trying to stop it, we should concentrate on adapting to it.
They've dropped the term "man made" now, because they admit they can't prove it.
The Climate change issues have been hijacked by the anti capitalist brigade to try and push their own agenda.
If you drill down through all of the issues and try to find the actual people pulling the global levers of power, promoting their own agendas, to increase their power, and of course their wealth, you will find there, the puppet masters pulling the strings of the global warming scientists, and the promoters of the antidotes to the perceived threats.
The World Economic Forum in Davos, Goldman Sachs, Bill Gates, George Soros to name just a few.
It takes some courage and a strong constitution to stand up to them.
Some have and have been destroyed.
Who would they be, Theland? (The stander-uppers I mean)

The rate of change is much greater than ever before.

The cost of trying to adapt is far far higher than action to prevent it.

The projections of an ice age were based on the observed cycles in the past. Carbon pollution has reversed the natural cycle. The extreme weather and fires aren't terribly popular.
coral reefs are dying at an alarming rate according to David Attenborough, so much so that its affecting other sea life, its all down to the climate changes we are experiencing.
I don't think the Aussies will be complaining they don't get enough rain, for a little while at least!
If you drill down through all of the issues and try to find the actual people pulling the global levers of power, promoting their own agendas, to increase their power, and of course their wealth, you will find there, the puppet masters pulling the strings are the boards and shareholders of fossil fuel companies.

They intend to make every dollar they can from their reserves. No director wants to be at the helm when stranded assets are written down from the value of their company. Bad for their bonuses.
I believe the people of Sydney would take issue with the OP at this moment in time
they are experiencing record rainfall, who is to say that its not climate change that is the problem.........
So some don't see a problem with upheaval, species going extinct, deserts growing, destructive weather, massive financial costs to societies, etc. then ? Positive affect my foot.
