From my home town, Dundee.

“After catching the eye at junior level in his hometown of Dundee, Leeds beat off a number of clubs to secure his services in May 1962.
“Peter would go on to become an all-time great at Elland Road, winning every major domestic honour, starting with the League Cup in 1968, the First Division in 1969 and 1974, the Charity Shield in 1969 and the FA Cup in 1972."
Sounds as though you are all alone at the level you seek PP .. ?
R.I.P Peter Lorimer. Saw him play a few times in the 60s & 70s. An honest player with a shot like a mule. He did burst the net if he got hold of one.
Fantastic footballer and a lovely bloke. Had the privilege of meeting him a couple of times.

A little story for you.
I was a junior doctor at the time and I was taking my No2 son to Elland Rd as he was a Leeds Utd supporter.
The traffic was bumper to bumper for at least 2 miles to the ground and not moving.
I became impatient and pulled out overtaking the waiting queue to the tunes of "no! Dad, no!" but was stopped by a policeman who retorted
"In a bit of a hurry are we Sir?"
Yes, I replied,I am an on-call surgeon at LGI.
He stepped into the middle of the road with his hand up, stopped all oncoming traffic and waved me on.
Son was impressed and never let me forget it .
Leeds beat Sheffield Utd 2-1 and Norman Hunter now also dead scored the winner.
Just a little reminiscing from sqad.
RIP Peter Lorimer

Always expected to see the net bulge whenever he was running towards goal. RIP.
RIP. Only really heard of him because a school boyfriend was an avid Leeds supporter. Didn't thy call him Hot Shot Lori or similar?

Also 'Thunderboots', Prudie. Which i hope is an omen as i have backed a horse named Mighty Thunder @ 18/1 in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter.
That’s him,Jack Charlton,Norman Hunter and Trevor Cherry all passed away in a very short space of time. They have joined Billy Bremner and Gary Sprake at that great football ground in the sky.R.I.P.
