I guess referees need the experience too, Carley was, apparently, mortified when he saw the replays after the match - but too late! No wonder he was running the line in Italy today.
It was a pleasant change to watch England play and the ref not be the most "influential" man on the pitch. It was a good game not spoiled by an agenda. Biggar would have gone in any other game ... certainly with a different ref. There is no consistency of interpretation of the rules. We all wanted var and the slomo playback, but it is crippling the game. Not just rugger either. The only game to have benefitted from the review is cricket as far as I can see.
Agree Ellipsis, I e-mailed a close friend at halftime to say, 'I can accept the score as it's a really good game.' To me, Tom Curry should have been MoM.....
