Is anyone experiencing slow mail services between the EU & UK or vice versa ?
It is now one week since I posted a letter containing a personal cheque for a large sum & it has not yet arrived & I'm beginning to be concerned - should I be?

Far too soon to be concerned. If you posted it on Saturday it would only have got in to the postal system on Monday
I wouldn't have thought so just to give you peace of mind, check with your bank, to see if cheque has been presented. If it's a large some of money, there are more secure methods of transfering money.
Post is taking ages. Xmas cards arrived in Portugal 2 weeks ago. Lots of Mail is carried on commercial flights and there are hardly any to Portugal from UK

Thanks for the re-assurances. Trouble is, the money is needed urgently by family member. There seems to be little that covid isn't effecting, - crazy times.
The problem is brexit and the virus together are causing the delay. I have friends in Northern Ireland who, since Christmas, are regularly waiting ten to fourteen days for items when before, they arrived after about three days.

Good news! daughter just text to say that it arrived this morning, thanks.
I find round here where I live there is constant postage, Royal Mail, Prime, Herme, it goes on and on
OK Khandro all well then.
Next time, use bank transfer - instant and safer :)
If you use registered post you can at least track the progress, which gives some reassurance.
Yes I know jj. Road we live on was built for horses and carriages, not the modern 2 / 3 car household. We have to use one side of the roads pavement to put a couple of wheels on, just to allow delivery or emergency services access. Other pavement is never blocked and wide enough for wheel chairs, push chairs etc.
