Alas not, Zacs. As much as I would like to keep my GPs out of the loop as far as possible, occasionally and very reluctantly I have to go there. I'd far rather simply go to somebody who can sort out my problems but I have to go through the clearing house first.
AB knows my feelings about Primary Care in the NHS which is expensive and a total anachronism.
Patients should have direct access to specialists and in cases of doubtful areas of referrals, a triage or consultation between patients and nurses.
Practising GP'S should have a speciality or interest.
Face to face consultations and home visits are a total waste of time and should be made by nurses in the main and by doctors only in exceptional circumstances.
Diabetic management by GP,s on the whole is a total waste of time and money.
GP 's should all work in Central polyclinics attached to hospitals and the centre for health should be in central units as described.
This will come and Covid has brought this to a head.

I think the question being asked is if your GP practice is cra p why not change to the nearest practice which offers good service , irrexpective of distance ?
Because none in my local health area is any better than the one I currently have and I would not be permitted to register with one outside my area.

Apart from that, since they all seem equally ineffective I don't see the point in schlepping all over the place for shoddy service which should be largely unnecessary anyway (see sqad's answer above, which makes my point far more eloquently that I can).
Fair enough - your first paragraph now clarifies your situation .

I wasn't aware of that
I like the idea of general purpose antibiotics prescribed by the pharmacy. If and when that is applied here it will be a blessing for myself and many others. Getting to actually see a GP, let alone consult one, is like a small lottery win where I live. A rare species indeed.
