only 2 daughters, partners and grandchildren permitted and family has asked that folk do not come out to the streets etc..
I thought it had already happened a few days ago, or did I dream it?
the military contribution is lovely

Captain Sir Tom Moore's funeral later today will be "quite spectacular", his daughter said.

The 100-year-old, who raised almost £33m for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden, died with coronavirus on 2 February.
That's a shame, I think it would of been very fitting for folk to line the route to clap for this wonderful old man, but if that's his families wishes then they should be adhered to yet somehow I think people will line the route
Question Author
i think they will too, i hope they safe distance....
What's meant by spectacular ?

Aren't mourners limited to in the twenties ?
RIP ❤
Maybe it's the flypast that will be spectacular. Only eight relatives will attend the funeral.

read the link, its going to be as they said a lovely send off.
If mourners line the route but are spaced apart then what's the problem? They are outside for goodness sake!
He was a remarkable man but even at the time of his fund raising I wished he had done it for the small charities which have been going through hard times rather than the NHS bottomless pit.
It's a long way from Marston to the crematorium and they will probably use the by-pass to get there. I doubt that they will travel through Bedford.
dave, maybe the family don't want to be gawped out on their way to the funeral
dave50 have you actually investigated where the money will go?
No I haven't, all I have heard that it went to the NHS.
I believe the song My Way is to be played at his service. A horse by the same name runs in the 4.10 Kempton and, as it is stabled by master trainer Paul Nicholls, it is worth a small punt @ around 9/2. Coincidentally, another runner is called Captain Blackpearl - grounds for a mug's forecast, maybe?
dave: "A NHS Charities Together statement read: "The charity has been able to provide much-needed bereavement support for those who have tragically lost loved ones to COVID-19, though its member charities.

"Other projects have helped isolated patients in hospital, using technology to enable them to stay connected to loved ones at one of their most difficult moments.

"And thanks to the funds raised the charity has supported the emotional and practical needs of staff, including counselling programmes and helplines, so that they can focus on their life saving work at a time of immense pressure."

Money donated to the NHS cannot be used on anything the NHS has to fund, so it is not saving the NHS or the government money but is providing much needed funds to provide services and support outwith the NHS remit.
