My dad's first wife was called Fanny
;-)

Some of the banter between the pair of them was superb. Very enjoyable.
I always thought Fanny was short for Frances until I saw Fanny on her death certificate and her daughter's birth certificate.

I do wonder why it became associated with the female anatomy haha
It the US it means your bottom, as in 'fanny bags' (whatever happened to bum bags?)
In America it means backside. "If you do that again I'll paddle your fanny (smack your bottom)"
Question Author
Then 3000 miles east of America , it changes haha
I would if it got the slang meaning during WWI when Fannies (or Fanys) were created? The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry. I bet many a soldier lusted after a FANY
Should it not be ynnafynnarg? ;)
