Probably not known by many English members, but an iconic Scottish singer, Sidney Devine, has died aged 81. Some thought he was a bit soppy and sentimental but he sold thousands of albums over many years and gave his audiences 100%. I remember his as a young man playing in my home town - my mum loved him.

Proof that he was still putting on quite a show just two and a half years ago:
Never really my cup of tea, but he had a huge audience and I think you'll find that he sold millions, not thousands, of albums.
Never heard of him, so he was just big in Scotland then.

Absolutely nothing on that website, nor on Wikipedia or elsewhere, seems to mention him ever performing outside of Scotland. He had his own television series but that was only on STV. His albums were issued on a specialist label for Scottish music, Scotdisc. (He sold around 15 million albums). So it's probably unsurprising that most English people won't have heard of him.
