Theses are photos I transferred from iPad to laptop.
This is what I get when I try to open them. (An AAE file contains edits made to an image using the photos app on an IOS device. It is used to transfer non destructive edits a user has made to images in IOS to the Mac OS system)
Anyone know how I can open them on my laptop ?

They aren't photos but as the message says they contain edit info about the photos. Even if you could open them it wouldn't do you any good in a practical sense, you need the image files. Look for JPG or HEIC files of the same name (assuming the AAE files follow the logic of having the same name as the image)

To complicated for me I just transferred off my iPad and that’s what I got. Does that mean any photo I have altered will not transfer to my laptop? Thank you for reply.

every AAE file should have it's accompanying JPG file, if not then you need to transfer them too.

When you edit a file on an iPad you aren't affecting the original file, you are essentially creating an instruction file saying what the edits were, this is the AAE file. As per previous you need the actual image files and then you would need to edit them on your laptop (if transferring to a Mac then the Photos app on the Mac should recognise the edits). How did you locate the files originally to transfer to your laptop, I use a Mac so don't know how these things are configured using Windows.

Don’t know where they came from the only editing I have done on iPad is crop a photo. I just attached my cable then transferred to my laptop. I opened my pictures and that’s what came up. Don’t even know what photos they are as transferred loads.all others ok. Thanks all for trying to help me. It’s just a square with like reels on it shows in my photos says cool viewer.
