Loads of promotion for this series Mon-Thurs Channel 5 but isn't it just a rip off of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torn_(TV_series) -how can they get away with this?

Did you watch it last night? We did and thought it was very good. I think it’s different enough from Torn to be worth a go.
Second part tonight.
I haven't seen Torn, but enjoyed The Drowning - apart from the fact that she seemed able to go into the school and take lessons and no-one questioned it. I do hope he is her son.
Had to turn up the sound a tad, lots of whispering softly going on.
thought the storyline sounded familiar but i'll still give it a go
It's a similar story but told a different way. That happens a lot in TV and film. I'm not sure they have 'gotten away' with anything. As long as it is entertaining!
Co written by Tim Dynevor, husband of Corrie Sally.
What a talented family!
I'm hooked.
Why not get a DNA? She got the boy's toothbrush.
It's all very contrived but just about intriguing enough for me to stay with it. Nothing much up against it on the other channels, either.
Haven't watched Torn but have just read the whole synopsis on Wicki and, the two are very similar in that a child disappears after being left alone near water, presumed dead, only to turn up again years later. In Torn, all that happens in Episode 1. From there on in, the two stories are quite different.
Enjoyed the first episode. Last night episode was a bit hectic and muddled. Thought the actress playing ‘ the mum’ was poor, over acting. Will watch tonight though .
What a conclusion!

I thought early on that her brother was going to be integral to what happened and daddy's mistress would be somehow involved. I never suspected complicity on grandma's part though.

Excellent all the way through.
Yep, very good, had me on the edge of my seat.
Excellent series. Did Jodie get together with Tom’s father though? Would have been nice.
I didn’t see that ending coming although I did wonder when the brother made a phone call at about the time the DNA was taken. I’d like to think that she got together with Daniel’s father eventually - perhaps we can make our own final ending?
