Yes, they can come and go as they like, after all Britain is such a superior country .
we'd have to join both the Schengen area and the euro as conditions of entry. but, chances are though that we'd fail to meet the fiscal joining criteria.

We could be foolish enough to apply if sufficient anti-UK folk got into power, but what would be the point of paying the cost of freedom just to return to being controlled ? Too insane to contemplate.

We couldn't respect the democratic values of the EU because the EU isn't democratic and we believe in democracy. So we'd not qualify.
Of course we can Tambo. Whatever makes you think that might be a problem? They'll welcome us with open arms.

In the light of how things are working out with having left the EU, and in the current climate of uncertainty surrounding the effect of the coronavirus pandemic, how long might it be before rejoin is considered the 'least worst option' by the majority of voters for a successful and economically sustainable UK future?

I have no idea.
