Sweets were small pieces of toffee wrapped in white pieces of paper in a tube like rolos
Are. Main wrapper was red.

Awfully bad for children's teeth
They were around it the 50s and 60s. Called Toffos, made by MacIntosh.
My fillings are throbbing just seeing the picture.

You could also get a mint toffee version in green. Both were around longer than the 70’s.
You can still buy them - 85p
They used to be 6d!
I remember the ad, "a man's gotta chew what a man's gotta chew - Toffo"

^^^^ that was for the later multi flavoured ones.
Remember how the paper used to stick to the toffee? It was what prompted the invention of superglue, I'm sure. Up until they did there was no adhesive know to man, or child, that was more powerful.
