Have you had one?
My daughter who is in my bubble insisted I send for one as I had had a bit of a cough, what a palaver.
The box you have to return it in comes in a flat pack!
After throwing it across the room several times, I finally worked out how to assemble it after about an hour.
Read the brochure.
There is your test kit barcode, a 10 digit order ID, an 11 character test kit barcode, a 13character Royal Mail barcode.
You have to go online to find your priority postbox and then fill in the online registration.
As I don't have a device for scanning these codes, I had to put them in manually.
After another hour or so, I had got as far as entering the final barcode and the red lettering came up,
You have entered an invalid code!
Tried again and again and again. invalid code.
So, how do I dispose of it, can I put it in with the household rubbish?
I've been unable to find a helpline phone number, so I've no idea what to do now.

Should be ok in normal waste.
If you are concerned, does site you bought it from, I'm assuming you bought it on the web, have any contact info?
Question Author
No, I haven't bought it, I ordered it online from the NHS. It was free.
Do you have a car? If so start again and book a drive thru test. Yes chuck this one in the bin.
We've done them a few times - no problems, took about 15 minutes for both. Got the results by text less than 24 hours later.
And there is a helpline number...all you do is dial 119, and listen (a few menus to choose).

gingejbee, I saw that number but thought it was to re-order the kit.
Do you have a device where you can scan the barcode?
As I don't, I had to enter each one manually twice, and yet I checked it time after time but it wouldn't accept it.
Barsel, the biggest problem we had was assembling the box lol. Also, we had tried to enter a letter as a number.... as it seemed to be within others.
Dont you have a smartphone ?
Sorry you've had problems, Barsel. Very frustrating for you. I ordered one last Wednesday, as I felt slightly flu like, tired, and breathless. Anyway, according to email I received Thursday , said Amazon, had delivered to my address, at 5.12 pm. Well, I did not receive it! So Friday morning, I rang 119, and she booked me in the nearest drive through testing Centre. Most helpful. Fortunately, test was negative. Doctor put it down to a virus.
I didn’t know they were still doing those.
Apart from putting the box together I found it all quite straightforward. Don’t remember needing to scan a barcode.
barsel...no, no scanner here (or smartphone!) - entered all info manually. You do have to be careful with 1 and I, and also 0 and O...seems daft to include them as they can be awkard to differentiate!
If you ring 119, you can register everything there (pretend you have no computer!).

I think I'll do as Maydup has suggested and go to my nearest test centre. Just need to try and find out where that is.
Thanks for your answers.
Barsel you should be able to find your nearest test centre from here, you may have to google this.

This is really helpful.
Book online
People who are eligible should register for a test on the gov.uk website HERE.
I click on this and it says, 'Page Not Found!'
Giving up now, I really can't be doing with it anymore.
I've looked but cannot find specific address for the NHS test centre at Manchester airport, as opposed to the one for air travellers sorry. I may try again, or maybe someone will beat me to it.
