My TV licence is due next month but I will turn 75 in November and will be entitled to a free licence. Do I still pay for a year and then claim money back and if so, is it easy to do? TIA

They will issue you a licence for the period up until your 75th birthday. Are you in receipt of pension credit?
They've scrapped the over 75s now Barsel, , I'm also 75 in November, OH is 80 in June and we are paying the full licence again
Unfortunately the free tv license is no longer in force. So you will have to renew your license :(
Still free for those who get pension credit and are over 75 though
from link

Free over 75 TV Licences are only available to households that receive Pension Credit.

If you’re 74 or over and you or your partner at the same address are receiving Pension Credit, please sign in to apply for a free licence.

If you think you’re eligible for a free licence but don’t currently have a TV Licence, call 0300 790 6117 and speak to one of our advisors to request an application form. (Our lines are open between 8.30am and 6.30pm, from Monday to Friday.)

Once we’ve received your application it may take a few weeks to process. If there are any problems we’ll write to let you know. We may also call you if you have given us your phone number.
might be worth a phone call to the number i listed.

I receive Pension Credit Guaranteed, so I know I will get a free licence when I am 75, but do I apply for the full year now and apply for a refund when I'm 75 in November or do I pay for a licence from February to November?
Question Author
emmie, if I phone them, will I need my licence number 'cos I'm not sure where it is?
Question Author
Thanks emmie, it was in the link you put on.

If you already receive Pension Credit, you can apply for your free over 75 TV Licence when you are 74 years old. We’ll update your payments to cover you until your 75th birthday, when you’ll be covered by your free licence. We’ll confirm this in writing.

I'll phone them when I get my reminder.
Barsel, while I'm not sure, I gave up on mine about a year ago, having spoken to them. And they refunded within 48 hours. So, I don't think that will be a problem.
Who wants to pay to see Boris Johnson on TV on an almost daily basis . No one should have to pay to watch TV.
Question Author
yes, thanks Pixie. It says in the link that emmie put on that I can apply next month and they will adjust the payment to cover me until Nov when I turn 75.
Nobody does, gully. Neither does anyone have to watch Boris daily.
