I find it fascinating if I get a chance to watch, as is Salvage Hunters the restorers. No point in me recording them as I will never get a chance to watch them.

The old lady with the box that her late husband had, the only item he had as his parents perished in the Holocaust , lovely
I have loved it since the first episodes that were in the cosy afternoon slot and still do but I do feel the camerawork is sometimes too intrusive, lingering in close up on the faces of people in an emotional state. It makes for uncomfortable viewing for me. Otherwise it is perfect
I love it, and the reactions of the people who have brought items in to be restored, is the best bit.
As I have said before the skills of the repairers is magnificent .Steve Fletcher and his sister are especially good.
The skills of the experts is amazing and it’s good to know they aren’t lost.
Snap, grumpy.
I love it too, especially as they don't make the items look pristine when they have so much history.
I love to see the craftmanship, they always do a superb job but i dont like all the sob stories that go with it.

If the item meant that much to them why did they let it get in that state? And would they be getting it restored if they had to pay for it?
I have wondered that, too, Darcey. Sometimes they have inherited the object when it has been in a very poor state but you don't put a treasured heirloom made from wood in an old shed in the garden :)

Some of those repairs must cost in the thousands.
Suzie Fletcher who is an expert in leather and saddle-making sadly lost her husband to cancer a few days ago. She does amazing work on the show and obviously loves what she does.
maggiebee - Suzie's husband died in 2013 when she was in USA.
angie55 - Really? This just appeared in my Yahoo newsfeed today. Hope I didn't upset anyone, will have another look.
Suzie was filmed in tears a couple of years ago over a rocking horse because the story behind it reminded her of her late husband. I think she's a lovely woman.
Yes I remember that Barry. Steve appeared in no time at all to comfort her. Very touching. Obviously a close family.
It fascinates me to see how the ladies have changed since the first episodes - they've all 'glammed up' to a degree. Of course they weren't on the tv before The Repair Shop so I guess when they saw themselves they thought there was room for improvement.
Not a criticism, just an observation :)
