Can anyone recommend a free basic photo editing programme, please.

All I want to do is touch up some old black and white photos that have cracks etc.

Something not too complicated, please.

Cheers.

In my opinion the best one is Gimp, but it does have a very steep learning curve. However, they are extensive tutorials available on youtube which are easy to follow. I've 'restored' several old black and white photo's (cracked and faded) with excellent results.

If your looking for a 'one click' fix, then I think you are going to be disappointed. I've tried a couple and find them rather hit and miss.

Thanks Alice. That's a great start.

Gimp is very good, but definitely not intuitive.
I always recommend Irfanview.
