Got A Date For My Jab.

Just to let you know I'm going on Friday for my first vaccination. I know some of you ask if anyone has had theirs yet, so I am now booked in.

Barsel - the people who had their jabs 3 weeks apart probably had them before the guidelines changed. They're saying it's 12 weeks between jabs now.

237SJ that's right. 1 of my neighbours is 90 and the other 2 are in their mid 80's and they were one of the first to get it whereas, another neighbour who is over 75yrs old and has just had his first one is having to wait much longer for his 2nd jab, probably 12 weeks, unless the government change it again.

How did you all hear? Did you get a phone call, or a text, or a letter, or something else?
Do you then make your own appointment or is your appointment made for you and then you’re told?
And are people told when their second jab will be when they’re being given their first? Or do you have to wait to hear?
Sorry for all the questions, just curious, am hoping to hear this week as I’m in the extremely vulnerable category but not yet 70.

Just had a text from my GP. They "hope" to complete care home vaccinations by the end of this month and will be opening a vaccine hub on 30 Jan to start vaccinating over-80s living in the community, then working through the various groupings.

I was phoned on Wednesday and we were given our appointments for Saturday and the 17 April 2nd jab. I have to say I am very impressed with the organisation. it all went so smoothly. They provided me with a wheelchair, took us through another door so I could be inside, and queue jumped us. I felt a bit guilty, but I can't stand for more than a minute or two.

We had ours yesterday and no side effects

Vagus - We had our first jab( Pfizer) on 19th Jan after a phone call the previous, we were told where to go. All very well organised, had to wait 15 mins after to ensure no after effects and given date fir second one on 13th April. We had no side effects at all.

However, not all surgeries have the same system.

We were told to wait in the car for 15 minutes and beep the horn if there was a problem. Those without cars presumably had someone warm inside. It was freezing! It's a huge medical centre.

I wasn’t sure whether it would be through the GP or some other way. I’ve had numerous letters either from central government or the local authority telling me that I’m extremely vulnerable, but nothing from my GP so that’s why I’m wondering.
Not that it matters, just as long as someone gets in touch!
It won’t change my behaviour at all once I’ve had the jab, but I was wondering does it make you feel different, psychologically? A bit more hopeful perhaps?

Vegus - most people that I have seen have pretty much skipped out of the vaccination centre and the over 80s were particularly relieved.

I reckon a lot of retired shift mgrs have volunteered here
and have snarled to the heaving masses

and the punters play their part as retired cotton factory floor workers and meekly queue here and there and roll up there sleeves in serried ranks
