I've watched two episodes of this and it is lovely. He has a very quirky sense of humour which makes me smile and it is very interesting regarding the history of the area. Highly recommended. Thursdays Channel 5, 9.00.

Yes it's good viewing HW , I agree
Yes I saw it for the first time last night, hes good at this sort of presenting, and it made a welcome change from the barrage of repeats on TV.
I wasn't aware of the series until it was mentioned on local radio this week, but watched last night's broadcast and then the first episode on My5. Takes me back - I walked the length of the Wall, from west to east, well before there was a long-distance footpath
Thanks for the heads-up - Romans in Britain is one of my interests.
Here's another recommendation that's easy to miss.
I'm no particular fan of either railways or architecture, but am finding The Architecture the Railways Built to be very interesting ...Tim Dunn visits places here and abroad. There was a series last year too.
On Yesterday channel (freeview 26) on Tuesday at 8pm.
@ 11.55 I caught the back end of that last night, it did seem a little bit different to what we have been seeing. We seem to have been bogged down with no end of celebrities / presenters all copying each other with the same sort of railway programs.
does he get his kit off in this? (he seems to unrobe in everything he appears in.......)
I was surprised that they didn't show, or even mention, the replica sections of Hadrian's Wall in turf timber and stone at Vindolanda. They weren't there when I last visited the site and I'd love to see them. I can't think of a better way of showing what Hadrian's Wall would have looked like in its heyday. For me Robson's discovery of a "Roman nail" wasn't terribly interesting (and I am a great fan of archaeology!)
