With all the talk of vaccinations - when one gets the 2 vaccinations - are they completely safe from getting it or do you still keep taking the precautions, mask etc.

I have moved this thread into the category "Body & Soul".
You have to still take precautions.
I Know a lady that just had the first jab she says they give you a little booklet to read after you have had it. I assume its wise to still take precautions.
jj it will not totally protect you, maybe 95%+ so I would still avoid people even after having the vaccine and waiting 3 weeks.
Covid website says that even after the 2nd shot you need to give your body time to build up the protection they say 2 weeks after your 2nd jab. So it is important to continue with precautions.
The rules say you keep using the same precautions
People who've had the vaccination might still be able to spread the virus. So it's important that, even as the vaccination programme gets well underway, everyone keeps sticking to the current rules on masks and social distancing.

Quote:
"There is a chance you might still get or spread coronavirus even if you have the vaccine.

This means it is important to:
* continue to follow social distancing guidance
* if you can, wear something that covers your nose and mouth in places where it's hard to stay away from other people"

Some health professionals have suggested that wearing masks when shopping might need to become normal practice for many years to come.
For me the precautions are no big deal - keep taking them.

Thanks for answers so we shall always have emotionless faces, imagine little babies not having any body coo cooing over them, pretty girl's with their make-up on to perfection, nobody looking at them. Yes a faceless society I fear and I am glad for the first time I am old.
jj its not forever. Its my (small experience) that babies dislike intensely strangers cooing over them and you have only to look at social meeja to see teens showing off their makeup
I would hope that as soon as the old and vulnerable have had their injections and have had time to take effect that the restrictions are eased immediately. We don't want the 'even one death is too many' brigade calling the shots, the priority is to get the economy moving again as soon as possible.

Also, it isn't known yet how long immunity lasts. Figures suggest people who have had covid have immunity for around 5 months. So we could be in a situation as we are with flu that it becomes an annual jab.
