Bursitis - Anyone Ever Had It??

I developed horrendous sick dull pain in my right hip about 2 months ago. Doctor sent me for x-ray(all consultation was over the phone). Went for x ray which showed no issue with joint itself, and as far as he was concerned I had bursitis, which when I googled symptoms fitted perfectly. But he just gave me a list of exercises to do - no antibiotics, no injection, no painkillers (I’ve got those at least). I spoke to doctor after 3 weeks of pain but like I said it’s been months now and I can’t even lie on that side. Cant sleep properly as it’s a sick dull throbbing pain.
Anything else I should be doing to help?? P.S. I’m not overweight at all.

The hospitals and clinics are still working - I've been to hospital this morning to see a consultant and have another appointment in 6 months.

No our surgery isn’t seeing a soul - it’s all telephone consultations
there ya go Smow - you answered your own question.
The GP wouldn't need to see you though, Smow - he has the evidence from the XRays. He could prescribe you stronger painkillers or refer you for steroid injections.
Smow you have been doing quite heavy decorating and whilst you have had this pain for a while the decorating has definitely exacerbated the pain.

Yeh I think I’ll give surgery another call this afternoon. Won’t do any harm will it. Thanks guys x
I have suffered with it for many years and mine has flared up again recently and very painful at night.i was seen by a doctor at the hospital 3 years ago and sent for an ultra sound guided injection which was very painful but i was painfree for 8 weeks then it came back.I now take amitriptyline at night which helps me sleep and as i can't tolerate the injections 4 times a year i was discharged. If and when we can put this virus behind us i am going to go private and hope to get it drained at least.Have you tried that pillow from jml that you put between your legs at night, its supposed to help with the pressure. If you use facebook there are several groups that you can join to offer help and advice on this condition.I hope you feel better soon and agree the pains awful :(
Yes I do, the same location as you have on both sides and it can be ridiculously painful. I'm under Rheumatology for other conditions so it was them who diagnosed it and have been treating it, so I'm lucky I'm already under specialists who deal with this kind of inflammatory issue.

I've had it for many many years now. I have had some physio but the only thing that has really helped mine are steroid injections. My first one was done by my consultant and ultrasound guided. Further ones have been done by the specialist nurses, more a prod to find the most excruciating bit and inject there. I've always had a lot of relief from them and they work very quickly.

For me, it always comes back, but I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so other inflammatory things seem a bit par for the course and can often become recurrent/chronic. So it wouldn't necessarily be the same for you.
Just a thought, does your GP surgery have a community physiotherapist that works at the practice? They might be able to do steroid injections if appropriate, worth an ask in case a referral to them might help x
