With all the trimmings, plus the bottle of red the three girls sent himself for his birthday, with coffee and a drop of the delicious looking brandy afterwards, which one of the boys sent him. Just taken delivery of a huge box of technical Lego...a land rover defender...from youngest son, which has absolutely made his day!
All preceded by a bottle of fizz with lunch so I doubt that very much Lego building will be done today!
In these grey doldrum days, it’s nice to have something to look forward to :o)

Thank you, very kind of you all, I’ll tell him.
We just got in from taking dog for a walk, made our lunch and popped the cork on the fizz.
Have decided that once a month we’re going to treat it like a birthday or some other occasion worth celebrating and push the boat out a bit.
Next month on Valentine’s Day it will be 47 years since we met, defo a reason to celebrate!
Sounds lovely. Although I think ribeye is a bit overrated.

I don't feel very well so if I can muster the energy I'll make Chinese style beef and tomatoes.

If not there's soup in the freezer.

I am just happy that I got bored last night and cleaned the house. Not that there was that much to. All I've done today is get out of bed because my phone was ringing. I missed the call :-)
Happy Birthday Mr Vagus, have a great day x

Ummmm, take it easy please and feel better soon x
Sounds lovely, have a pleasant day!

Oh dear Ummm, hope it’s not what hospitalised you in the past and you feel better soon.
We’re not huge meat eaters generally but both love a properly cooked rib eye steak, the last one we had, many months ago, was sooo tender and tasty, I’d never buy any other type of steak now.
Mr Vagus is in his element as he’s realised there’s loads of Lego aimed at adults these days, opened up a whole new world for him. And given we have a 15 month old grandson, well, the sky’s the limit!
Enjoy your day, and meals, everyone :)
Thank you. No it's not. This is pretty minor. I haven't even taken anything yet.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I'm the kind of person who want to know how much pain they're in.

I haven't lost my appetite and now I fancy steak :-)
C'mon Vagus.. we need an update. Are you sat admiring your fully assembled Land Rover Defender.. or are you staring at an empty bottle of Brandy thinking " Never again".
My money is on an empty bottle.. a word of advice, don't start the Lego unless you have a child present to give you guidance!

Ok Alava, just for you :)
The brandy is delicious going by the taste test we did in the afternoon but by the time we’d polished off a bottle of fizz, a bottle of juicy red, had our steak, etc, neither of us could fit another morsel or drop in and both nodded off in front of the telly.
A proper measure of brandy will probably be partaken after tea tonight.
Himself is currently in the dining room with the contents of the gigantic Lego set spread over the table, and the 500 page (I kid you not) instruction book open beside him. So far he’s assembled the gear box.
He recently emptied the loft of all Lego, mainly technical, it’s the only stuff we saved from when the children were small, we’ve tons and tons of it. He’s just hoping our one and only grandson will be as keen on it as his dad and grandad, not that he’ll have much choice!
You can't knock Lego.. It sows that seed for building and solving problems.
My lad spent his entire childhood playing with it, whatever he seen, he would try and make it from the crates of Lego we had. It has only just been handed over to the grand kids. He went on to train as an Aircraft Technician, build boats and now he is bored making F1 cars. Some people are never satisfied !
Sounds as though you are occupied for a few days.. Good luck!

Our two boys, and to a lesser extent the girls, were the same Al, we even had a trip to Legoland in Denmark in the 80s where they thought they were in heaven...a huge pit, full of bricks with all these children sitting on the edge totally absorbed.
Don’t they reckon it’s one of the best ‘toys’ children can play with, a good grounding for all kinds of things.
Well done your lad, I wonder what he’ll do next?
Our two boys helped himself build a Caterham 7 when they were in their early teens, it was all in the building, it got sold fairly soon after it was finished.
