Making French Bread!

I’m making it for the first time. It’s meant to be a foolproof easy recipe which only takes 90 mins from start to finished product. Am just letting dough prove then will shape and put in oven. Not sure what the end result will be lol - will keep you posted!

French bread sold in England isn't French bread, unless bought from a genuine boulanger. It is English bread shaped to look like baguettes. My understanding is that French bread is baked without fat, which is why it has a shelf life of only a few hours and why there are so many bakeries in France, as people will buy bread two or even three times a day.

There wasn’t any fat in this - just warm water, yeast, flour, sugar and salt.
