“He needs to be removed,” said Joe Walsh, a former Republican congressman. “He’s a threat to this country. We’re not safe with him in the White House. Our president is this country’s greatest national security threat.”

Walsh added: “What he did yesterday, he could do again tomorrow. He could call another 50,000 people to Washington DC on Sunday to do whatever. He can use the power of his office to incite violence and insurrection again any day for the next 13 days.”

What are the chances that Trump could use his private army again in the next two weeks?

even the Wall Street Journal - a very rightwing Murdoch publication - is calling for him to resign. If a Republican president can't even keep the Journal onside, he must be fast running out of friends. (Though he'll still have true believers.)

As the President he has a lot of power, and he has shown himself to be wounded and dangerous. He doesn't have to incite a crowd to cause damage. He has a million and one other ways to cause damage all on his own.

He should be removed from office immediately for what he's done, and for what he could still do, but that's not going to happen so let's cross our fingers and hope for the best on that.

As for impeachment, that should definitely happen but it might cost the Democrats the next election if they see it through. Let's hope they do the right thing rather than make some political judgement.
If Trump is still around in'24 and wishes to run he will have to do so as an independent. The Republicans won't touch him with a bargepole. No independent has ever won the White House in modern times.
Well as I've said I don't understand half the time how the laws work here in the UK never mind the US, but he appears to me, a bit shell shocked with the amount of people that have now turned away from him, so he will, if allowed, do some thing really really silly, just to have the last say, or go along with the flow now?
He's finally tweeted something of his own thoughts, and, amazingly, they aren't condolences for the dead police officer and four other dead people, nor an acknowledgement of the various resignations etc...

It's obvious, of course, that Trump doesn't remotely understand what he has done. Hopefully, that means he doesn't have a hope of understanding what he could still do in the next weeks, and therefore that he won't make "the most" of the opportunity before him. What I'm concerned about now is how the Republican Party moves in future. It's obvious that a great deal of them are either scared of Trump, or actively on his side despite all this.
What could catch his eye in the next few days? Here's an example, a little powder keg in the Middle East ...

The thing that really worries me is that if he stood again millions of Americans would still vote for him - the same attitude was discovered in respect of Tricky Dicky when a poll was taken after his resignation.

When voting is close, as it usually is, it only takes a few million idiots to sway the vote.

The Land of the Free has plenty prepared to turn a blind eye to morality when it suits their own selfish ends.
According to a YouGov poll 45% of Republicans support what happened in Wednesday.
That’s quite shocking

It is shocking but it also is not... that's been the pattern of republicans for the past 5 years. I do hope the remaining supporters of democracy can take control pf the party but I fear not. If Trump seizes power he will have the backing of millions of American fascists.
If he's not in prison by 2014 then he'll be too old. Watch the ghastly kids.
^^^ Call Doctor Who ^^^
I doubt he could be huckled off to chokey by quarter past eight.
