4 ENNAGE
17 GASH
30 DR+ILL (= slang 'dicky')
FORSAKE (anag 'ask' inside 'fore' = front).
STONE AGE [(to) present = (to) stage around 'one'].
You have to pair the 12 thematic answers, hankir - the six pairs have the thematic elements in the middle and the letters on the outside make up the grid entries (all real words).

Thanks ProfessorM.

I have 6 extra letters from across clues. I think I need 4 more.
11 from down clues which make two words.
How many words from across extras?
Still half of Thematics to solve.
10 extras in the across clues, hankir - 4 words (dodgy grammar!).
...I think you already know what they are.

Thanks ProfessorM.
I have the phrase from extra letters.

There are 24 Thematics which would make 12 pairs.
Some shaded unclueds can have only one word.
Row 6 can be a name. column 8 can be gin.
But first I need to solve all of them.
Of course there are, hankir - sorry! Have I mentioned my little problem with numbers before?...and my memory, if it comes to that.
You're right about the 'name' and the 'booze', they split like this -

??[???/??]??? - the 'name' is outside the brackets [thematic inside].

???[???/??]?? - the 'booze' is outside [thematic...].

Thanks again, ProfessorM.
