got a bird table for christmas. what kind of bird food/seed is best for a table?

I just buy birdseed from supermarket or garden centre, supermarket is normally the best deal.

Bednobs depending where you live, you may need to squirrel and ratproof it, you can also put some netting on to prevent pigeons, but it's a joy to see birds feeding.

Dried mealworms are always the favourite, They eat them up really quickly.
I also crumble up scones for them, any variety

If it's an open table, you may find that crows, magpies and pigeons clear it very quickly.
The little birds might not get a look in.
