Jesus foreknew that the world would become filled with so call professed Christians who would draw near to God with their mouths but whose hearts would be far removed from him, he said: “When the Son of man arrives, will he really find this faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:1:8)

Deskdiary@Well many people do not wish to believe in God. They realize that it would rebuke their past and change their future to an unpleasant degree if they did.
It's not really about "wish". You either believe it or you don't. Is it really that unpleasant being religious?
//Well many people do not wish to believe in God. They realize that it would rebuke their past and change their future to an unpleasant degree if they did.//

You’ve got that the wrong way round, Goodlife. People like you wish to believe - and the only reason you wish to believe is because you think it will save your sorry soul from the inevitable. There's a method in the madness.

Naomi //You’ve got that the wrong way round, Goodlife. People like you wish to believe//
No,I haven't got it the wrong way round. I don't wish, I DO believe in God. And its not to save my soul - but because I love him as my Creator and Universal Sovereign.
Pull the other one, Goodlife. Your posts make it crystal clear that you are desperate to avoid death. If that wasn't so you would have no reason to believe - because there would be nothing in it for you.

Obviously you don't know the account of job and I'm prepared to go over that to prove I love my creator so you don't know me. I know more about you than you do about me, but then again you haven't seen nothing yet how the world is going to get worse then you will get thinking.
The lofty superiority of the fervent Christian - never far below the surface.

Goodlife - when will you answer my previous question - why do you post this self-serving nonsense day after day?
Oh yes I do, Goodlife - to my mind the most monstrous account of selfishness, arrogance, and cruelty in the whole of the bible. And you admire that. Yes, I know you, Goodlife.

If I love our neighbor in the way that Paul described, we will please Jehovah, have fewer problems, and be happy. What Paul wrote at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 will teach us other ways to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Goodlife, //If I love our neighbor in the way that Paul described, we will please Jehovah//

So you don’t love your neighbour out of any innate sense of altruism or compassion or humanity - you make a concerted effort to demonstrate your 'love' simply to please Jehovah because you think that will earn you brownie points - and so ultimately it’s still all about you. There’s nothing commendable or admirable in that. Furthermore, do you not think that Jehovah can spot your deceit and your hypocrisy - and knows exactly what you’re up to? If your prediction for those who aren't 'true Christians' as you claim to be is true, you have something to worry about.

naomi one thing I do know you're a great twister to everything I say.
No twisting, goodlife. I read what you say - and that is what I respond to. Perhaps you should read what you say too.
