I was a single man when in the Army and, for a small price, i used to offer to stand in for any of the married lads who found themselves on Guard Duty during 24th and 25th Dec. Later in life i had to work the entire holiday period as a barman and actually quite enjoyed the tips :-))

sure there are lot of people who work in hospitals, care homes and such like who do often have to work over the Christmas break. Our local pubs used to close only half a day on Christmas day when i was a kid.
For goodness sake, Trevor. Educate yourself about Santa. I thought folk knew that, like leprechauns, Santa, his elves and reindeer are unable to catch or spread illnesses. Just look at how long he's being doing this job. How many pandemics has he seen? Has he ever missed a day through flu or a cold?
The only danger he faces this year is landing on whatever it is you've blocked your chimney with!

we only got tips as in drinks bought for us when i worked in a pub. YOu couldn't take them whilst working obviously, other wise you end up sloshed, but did sit down with staff after the shift and enjoy a tipple or two
Loved working the holidays ( nights)when I was an ITU nurse got extra pay and with no elective surgery it was usually a bit quieter. We all brought food in and it's never hard when you work with great people.
Depends how much you like your colleagues. I’ve never worked Christmas Day but have done plenty of Christmas Eves and NYEves. They were fun.
i did temping for quite a while, it was different then, you didn't get paid holidays so any time off work was money lost,
