As I see it, the whole point of relaxing the rules over Christmas is to prevent people saying "Stuff the rules, I'm going to do my own thing" which, in turn, might then make them far more likely to ignore the rules altogether once Christmas is over. Our little bubble has just burst .. the grandaughter and the rest of her year were sent home today as someone has it. It's no great hardship after more or less 10 months of staying apart ... I wonder how many will look back in January and regret this xmas get together and think .. 'I wish we had waited' ?

Boy #1 came home from uni today (he’s exempt from the student travel window) so we’re all set - it’ll just be a normal Christmas for us.
I hope your granddaughter is okay, alav. I think there will be many "I wish we had waited" thoughts.
We had nothing here in the county until the schools opened again and then things changed. Children bringing the virus to parents and grandparents. I wish, hard though it would be for many, that the schools had closed and stayed closed.
Our county figures have just jumped badly today...because of schools.

It is hard. I have children and their children I've not seen for over a year. I could never have imagined that. But if we want a next Christmas we need to bite the bullet now....not that my teeth would welcome that.....you be safe....x
Seconded, Apc..x
I imagine normal in the Sherrardk home could be fun!
We normally have our granny on boxing Day but not this year we don't feel safe having her as she has carers in and out everyday.
