Have tried to get an appointment at my dentist's, but because I haven't been for over two years (bit scared of the dentist), they won't see me, nor will they re-register me because of, guess what, covid ! I was practically begging for them to give me an appointment and rang twice, but they wouldn't budge. I've been going to that practice for about 30 years now as well. I've been given an emergency number by another dentist, but so far, no answer. Has anybody else had this problem ? I can't bear the thought of going around like this with just a stump where my tooth should be until covid goes away.

Even so, a loose or missing crown is not considered a UDC (Urgent Dental Care) requirement and unless you are on the at risk/vulnerable list they will likely tell you to wait until restrictions are lifted.

You can buy temporary cement from Boots, but if you want it seen to any time before say... March you'll have to go private and pay for check up, xrays and treatment. If its broken and you have no pillar or the pillar is fractured then you might need an implant which would be thousands £££.

Blimey, it just gets worse. i just hope I have some luck with the emergency number tomorrow. I will go private if I have to.
Shirley, i have exactly the same problem, found a private dentist who will do it (around £700!!) But not until new year, this is because he is so busy not because of Covid.

I, too, am actually glad i can wear a mask when i go out.

Thank you Darcey - good to know I'm not alone ! It looks like I may have to go private, hope I can find one. The thought of looking like this over Christmas isn't exactly floating my boat ! Yes, thank goodness for masks ...
My dental practice e-mails me to make an appointment and when I go to their site it states"no appointment times available" - I'll probably be struck off NHS Dental!!
