This county needs a massive overhaul of its welfare system and legal aid. Human Rights' Lawyers are making a killing from stopping the deportation of serious criminals. All courtesy of legal aid. This country needs to get rid of all the dead wood.

Just as a matter of pedantry, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web (as well as http and html). The Internet already existed, eg an early version was the ARPANET from the US. None of which devalues his achievement, but we may as well get the achievement itself correct.
I'm still not sure how people are measuring "best", though. There are certainly several metrics by which we aren't the "best" -- for example, Scandinavian countries usually come top in measures such as HDI, GDP/head, equality, Citzens' contentment etc -- although in most that I'm aware of the UK does pretty well compared to most countries.

As to the BA, reforming legal aid to essentially deny some people it requires making a judgement as to the merits, or otherwise, of their legal case. It stands to reason that the best place to make that judgement is in a court. However unpleasant it may be, it's better to ensure that legal aid is available to everyone rather than make restrictions on who gets it. People shouldn't be hampered by lack of money from offering the best legal defence, and people should be entitled to have that defence.
Likewise the welfare system. It's better by far that we've moved beyond the view of "undeserving poor", and focused on need rather than casting moral judgement. Of course we need to ensure that, as far as possible, nobody is defrauding the system (or that those who do are caught and punished), but I'm prouder to live in a country that is too generous than I would be to live in one that isn't generous enough.

then after a couple of mins was called to the reception desk. She says to her husband ,they are going to see to us first because we are British. How we all smirked when she was only being registered and had to wait in line. ha ha.

Great that a whole load of answers saying we are the best also moan.
Having pride in your country and declaring it as the best are two quite different things. Yes for a little island we are pretty good at some things. But I also believe there is room for improvement in many areas. You get to be the best by constantly learning and evolving. But over the last 15 years or so I am not sure that we have done that.
You can still have pride in your country AND acknowledge where it has not succeeded. That doesn't make you anti British. It acknowledges the reality.
