Now this will be interesting :

Russell has "outperformed his machinery" for most of the last couple of years - now he has a one (or at most two) race opportunity to show what he can do in the best car on the grid.

Can he prove his talent?

Or will it put to rest the "Hamilton only wins because he's in the best car" noise?

A fascinating twist to the end of a season that we didn't even think would start.

We will see what he can do

Bottas has the same machinery - he should be on par with Hamilton - he isn't - Hamilton consistently out performs him

If you analyse Hamiltons performance, his success is far more than being in the fastest car on the grid .

Incidentally most former world champions have been in the fastest car on the grid

In the modern era - Vettel , schumacher , button
That's the nature of the sport
I also think it will be interesting.
You are right, he seems to out perform his car at the moment.
. . . . and Pietro Fittipaldi stepping in for Romain Grosjean at Haas.

Another one to watch perhaps, like his grandad Emerson
WOW that's a real chance for Russell to show what he can do in the best car.
I`d like to think he`ll smash it but its an entirely different car and team so very good luck to him to sell himself.
Emerson Fittipaldi

I just love the sound of that name
A few months ago I had a Lola Formula 500 race car from Fittipaldi's era to work on. You cant imagine what little protection the drivers had back then. A steel frame and 3mm of fibreglass between them and their maker !
Unbelieveable !
Russel now has an unexpected chance to show what he can do .. but I doubt Hamilton will be worrying about losing his seat !
//Incidentally most former world champions have been in the fastest car on the grid//

Indeed, baz. But since 1980 6 drivers have won the drivers' championship in a year when their teams did not take the constructors' title:

1981 - Nelson Piquet driving a Brabham whilst Williams took the constructors' title.

1982 - Keke Rosberg (Williams/Ferrari)

1983 - Nelson Piquet (Brabham/Ferrari)

1986 - Alain Prost (McLaren/Williams)

1994 - Michael Schumacher (Benneton/Williams)

1999 - Mika Häkkinen (McLaren/Ferrari)

2008 - Lewis Hamilton (McLaren/Ferrari)
