What is the difference between the two for cold sores ... do they do exactly the same thing or is one stronger than the other?

No difference, they both contain 5% Aciclovir

As long as the cream contains Acyclovir you're ok. As PP said, apply as soon as you feel the tingle and then average around 5 times a day - make sure the hand (finger) you use is spotless. Hope this helps.

Lysine may help to prevent the outbreak of genital herpes and cold sores by taking it as a supplement every day. It is no good to treat an outbreak. Aciclover is the proven treatment for that.
Most people get enough lysine from their diet and never need to think about lysine. A GP would not prescribe for any kind of herpes.
