Just watching the news and caught the part of the update where Chris Whitby said”Would I recommend you kiss or hug an elderly relative?” “ No.” What does he expect to happen in the five days over Christmas. You couldn’t make it up.As I said earlier Granny will be getting COVID for Christmas.

//Fair enough if your family operated a formal booking appointments system//

You obviously move in different circles to me (or you have a different outlook to me). I don't visit anybody unannounced. Never have. It's impolite. Nobody visits me unannounced because they are too polite to pitch up on spec. Everybody I know operates in the same way.

In any case, if granny suddenly finds six people on her doorstep and they've turned up without agreement, they cannot be surprised if, at the moment, she keeps them outside. People who are stupid enough to turn up mob handed on their granny's doorstep will not worry whether it's legal or not to do so. They'll do it anyway. That's why a great deal of these restrictions are completely unnecessary. People who are intelligent enough to make informed decisions for themselves will make the right ones. People who are not will not. But they won't be prevented from doing what they want by legislation.
Well its a long time since I saw my nanny so may send her a tin of foam and a razor in advance. :0)
//It is not possible to remain completely isolated from human contact,..//

I'm glad that at last somebody has accepted that. If the person isolating follows the government's guidance regarding hygiene and so on, the chances of the virus being transmitted in the way you describe is absolutely minimal. The damage being caused by the measures needed to mitigate that minimal risk are out of all proportion to the gains.
It's minimal at the moment because the virus has not spread sufficiently far. If it's allowed to spread unchecked, then it will eventually reach the vulnerable no matter how much they are shielded.
I just give up! :-)
If it spreads unchecked there will be so many immune that the virus won't find another host to take it to a vulnerable person.
Laws are imposed when some amongst us refuse to act responsibly. You might be justified in complaining but the irresponsible have no leg to stand on and it is they that we all should be complaining about.
And now the authorities know how compliant we are, bring on The Great Reset 2021.
many are not compliant though theland
The laws of man are the consequence of those who refuse to abide by the laws of nature.
i blame the Chinese
//i blame the Chinese//

And where does that get you?

The blame lies with the virus, those who deny its existence and consequences and their refusal to take steps to mitigate its spread. Without accountability there will be no acknowledgement of responsibility. Refusal to value one's own life and wellbeing is not a license to recklessly endanger the lives and wellbeing of those who do.
it was a tongue in cheek response, but they were at fault.
A rather broad accusation but there's plenty of blame to go all around.
We have no idea how long immunity lasts and it will kill huge numbers of people before enough have had it to get anything approaching herd immunity.
