Anyway, glad your accepting that things are improving . A just thought you'd be grateful
// "Well I gave you the liberty to behave recklessly at Christmas" //

This is a bad thing to countenance anytime soon, but diddles wants the restrictions lifted now so that she can cancel Christmas ... and blame it on Boris. Bless.
My guess is all the idiots who still go and mix with crowds of their friends or extended families. Many of the areas with higher figures are those with party towns and higher ethnic groupings. Unless we bear down we`ll never get rid of the virus, even track and trace doesnt work when half the people put fake details.
Anyway, dont the goverment need to get it through Parlimentary vote which is probly early next week (?) to give everyone time to study the detail as the present arrangement in England finishes on 2nd December. Now in Wales....
diddly, will you answer my question at 15:18?
Far to early to lift lockdown IMO. Christmas mixing will only increase cases, we will spend Christmas with just us two.

TTT - no I won't answer the question you've asked umpteen times before and which is irrelevant to this thread.

To the rest of you - your comments are nonsensical. Who actually thinks that the soon-to-return tiers are reasonable and/or logical? Who thinks that a Christmas free-for-all and kissing under the mistletoe is a great idea?
Jeez, I can practically hear that vein in your forehead throbbing.
Why? Because there's a dearth of ideas and has been since the start of the whole mess.
That's the cue for our leaders to be seen to be doing something, even if it's the same something that fails every time it's tried.
The Greatest Living Englishman is to be found in a comfy chair, sucking his thumb and trying to wish it all away, regional leaders are much the same.
Maybe stopping absorbing the TV news and reacting to same would have the effect of freeing their collective minds to concentrate on trying to find an alternative.
Of course there's no profit for their mates if masks, gloves and gels are declared little more than window dressing in the unwinnable war against nature/Chinese scientists (delete as per beliefs).

Roll on a vaccine and hell mend refusers, let them gasp.
Diddly why do you bother asking questions if as you say "To the rest of you - your comments are nonsensical." If you don't want answers why ask the question in the first place. Just because you don't like the answers you have been given it doesn't mean they are nonsensical.
//The magic R number is below 1 so why are we enduring yet more and more hardship and restrictions?//

because the two are closely connected ?

// Why? Because there's a dearth of ideas//
erm as usual this statement on AB makes no sense to me
s
Why? Because there's one idea that DOES work

if you modify your behaviour then you can modify the course of the disease in a population

BUT like maths prep or Latin vocab no one likes doing it

did I really just read no one understand MY posts ?
Whilst looking to see if the proposed new English Covid regulations were online yet, I noticed an amemendment to the current Regulations.

On 21.11.20, The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (No. 4) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 amended the list of businesses that could remain open.

It added the following,

"54.  Businesses selling or supplying natural Christmas trees." to the list.

Now I might have overlooked something obvious but as it does not state the business must sell or supply ONLY or MAINLY natural Christmas trees, does that not mean ANY business, currently closed, could take orders, then sell or supply natural Christmas trees and remain open?

They could have an arrangement with someone who has natural Christmas trees and would then deliver them so there would be no need to have any of them on site.
Fundamentally, I agree with Diddlydo.

Don't get me wrong, no Govt, whatever their hue, would be smelling of roses over how they'd have handled this (although as a natural Tory the very thought of the three chief clowns in Labour at the last election trying to sort this out makes my blood run cold), but the tiering system is farcical. I'm in Kent and right on the border with East Sussex - it would take me 5 minutes to walk from my place in Kent to my local in East Sussex, and where I am the incidence of Covid is so low it's irrelevant, but because of the inbreeding chavs in Medway and on Sheppey (about 50 miles from me), apparently I'm not meant to walk half a mile down the road to get a beer...with a "substantial" meal of course. Can somebody please explain to me how this makes any sense? Actually I'd really like to see you try.

I've followed the 'rules', and I still am (although I will be going for a beer next week and breaking the rules) - when the rule of six came out I only met 5 friends in a pub on a Saturday afternoon...I also followed the rules that same evening when I and my wife went out for dinner with different people! I didn't break a rule. And therein lies the problem - the rules don't stand-up to the scrutiny of common sense.

But previously when restrictions were more localised peopel were saying either "its confusing peopel in one street can do this and those in the next street cant" or people were getting a taxi 1 mile to somewhere where pubs were open till 11.
If its kept simple peopel say its too simple and want it fine tuning. If its fine tuned eoel says its too complicated and there confused.
The only winners under either approach are the whingers who allways find a reason to whinge.
Its best if we all pull together , accept the descions are only recently elected goverments have made, accept the scientific advice as most doctors and NHS professionals support tight restrictions, accept every country is battling with this-- and the more we stop being selfish and start playing our part the sooner it will all be over
Are you thinking your clever? You found a way to get round the rules? And now your boasting you'll break them. Wow. How sellfish. And peopel wonder why infections, hospital cases and deaths are rising and restrictions are needed. Well as a tory you deserve a labour goverment and even tighter restrictions. Careful what you wish for.
