Just watching the news and caught the part of the update where Chris Whitby said”Would I recommend you kiss or hug an elderly relative?” “ No.” What does he expect to happen in the five days over Christmas. You couldn’t make it up.As I said earlier Granny will be getting COVID for Christmas.

I think what feels daft is:
Normally the rule is:
Thou shalt not hug thy granny
Now the advice is:
Thou canst hug thy granny but it would be better not to.
Where really the latter would make more sense all the time. Because we all know why you shouldn’t, and no one can stop you.

typical anglican overlay isnt it?

anglican priest points to his congregation and says - alot of us believe in God in here !

(latitudinarian - yes really that is a recognised attribute)

hey hey Itchie - joke alert

a quethtion for Father Kwithmuth from PP aged 5 1/2
if covid get into the reindeer herds are you going to shoot them all?

(er and can I watch) just a little one liner to keep you going
All part of the great plan. Divide and conquer.

Too many conflicting messages, never with clear and accurate data to back anything up. Johnsons said he wanted to be open ant transparent as PM. Well he has certainly failed that big time.
It's just common sense to not get too close to the vulnerable. But if Granny wants to take the risk, and is mentally capable of making the decision, that's their choice. Life is for living, not just existing.
//All part of the great plan. Divide and conquer.

Sounds like some nonsense your trotting out from youtube youngmabfog

Who is behind this worldwide conspiracy - have all the worlds scientists got together to fool us??

A rapist choice is not a choice to be raped.
And the connection to this subject is ?
Those who choose to play fast and loose with a pandemic until they end up in a hospital don't deserve to be cared for in a hospital.
A think a can see mibxxxxxxx point. Some say its there decision whether to ignore mask rules or social distance or visit freinds/have parties but its the peopel they infect who are the victims. Granny may not want the famly turning up to hug her
Okay a think am wrong- mibn2 ect is refering to the innocent victims who work in are NHS and other patients there in hospital who may get infected
The NHS is funded by all of the UK, all UK citizens are entitled to be treated. The moment one suggests stopping treatment based on some pretext, that's the moment one is asking for the destruction of the NHS. Even rapists get treated.
- or both.
Just shoot Father Kwithmuth. He's the one spreading everything around.
I for one am not hoping to find the gift of Covid in my stocking this year.
//Those who choose to play fast and loose with a pandemic until they end up in a hospital don't deserve to be cared for in a hospital.//

There’s lots of people who “play fast and loose” with all sorts of things in all sorts of ways. Many of them end up in hospital. Do they all not deserve to be cared for? For example, around 500 people a week end up in hospital as a result of road accidents. Some of them as a result of their own mistakes, some as a result of others. Are they playing fast and loose? After all, they could all be entirely avoided if everybody stopped using the roads.

Around 20,000 people a day are testing positive for the virus, with probably many more than that actually becoming infected. Are they all “playing fast and loose”? Or could it be that they are simply conducting their lives as they must?

// Granny may not want the famly turning up to hug her//

Then she should tell them not to come.

//I for one am not hoping to find the gift of Covid in my stocking this year.//

Then it’s quite simple – stay indoors and don’t let anybody into your home. Or do you expect everybody else to do the same?
It's not just a matter of individual choice. The choices made by people who don't take the pandemic seriously directly endanger other people by helping the virus to spread. This is an emergency and it has to be treated like one. Even if a vulnerable individual isolates as much as possible, the virus is extremely contagious and it will probably reach them if other people allow it to spread - they are relying on the rest of us.

Thanks judge for showing why we all need to be vigilant and how easy it is to infect others or pick it up if we'er off guard or bend the rules or insist its either just like flue or all some sort of plot/conspiracy under agenda 21 like some on here say.

Agreed granny should say "no" but its hard if 6 peopel turn up at the door

How?

//Agreed granny should say "no" but its hard if 6 peopel turn up at the door//

Nobody I know would turn up mob handed at their grandmother's unannounced and without prior agreement under any circumstances, let alone at the moment. The idea is simply laughable. If granny don't want them to come, they won't come.
Fair enough if your family operated a formal booking appointments system
"How?"

It is not possible to remain completely isolated from human contact, and the virus can live on surfaces for a surprisingly long time. Even if they're taking food deliveries and the like at home, there's still a risk of exposure if the virus is allowed to spread unchecked. The only way to get that risk down is for everyone else to try and contain the spread of the virus.
