I have a new Golf 8 and a large capacity iPod bought in 2007. I would rather use my iPod for music in the car as I don’t want to load my phone up with music. I’ve tried to buy a connector from Amazon but it doesn’t connect the iPod to the car. Anyone know if a connector is available?

I use mine regularly in the car as my wife and I dont have quite the same taste in music. My lead has a usb on the car end.

The USB connection for the iPod is too big for the car.
As you've discovered, there are different USB types...USB-A, USB-B and USB-C. And stuff from 10+ years ago had USB Mini-B...and then there's USB Micro-B!
Adapters are available to connect older devices to newer connections.
So, you really need to identify which of the many USB types you have before you can even think of buying a cable.
