I have been uneasy at the treatment your question received on AB of which I was hugely complicent.
On AB medical questions are often answered by a link to a website and then there are the usual advice to see your GP and blood tests MRI scans,so on and so on where the diagnosis is given by the OPer in the OP.
This happened in your case and in my opinion you received a raw deal on AB.

You were quite correct, your problems were due to a bite from a hitherto unidentified insect.

Let us hope that our answers will improve in the future and more notice taken of the contents of the OP.
