I've not been on for a while, and would like some input on this.

In the old testament, God was not a forgiving God, when you take into account the millions of people who would have been killed in the flood, there's Sodom and Gomorrah, the ordering of conquests, certain people to be killed,
If the children of Israel disobeyed him, he punished them etc, etc, etc,

In the New Testament, God is suddenly a merciful God, the exact opposite of the God in the old testament'

My thoughts are that there are either two Gods, no God, or a schitafrenic God.

I await your thoughts on this.

Hello Lonnie. Lovely to see you here again. When I was Christian, and actually started thinking about it - something that people of religion rarely do - I questioned the glaring inconsistencies between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament and pondered the possibility that there were two Gods involved in this narrative. I consequently...

n. Please tell us what it is you find so "interesting" about the question
The idea that the ‘two’ Gods are so different. As Lonnie says, the God of the OT does appear to have been schizophrenic - a bullying, vindictive monster in fact, and a very far cry from the compassionate God of the NT … wouldn’t you say? Or is that something you'd rather not think about, Khandro?
"My thoughts are that there are either two Gods, no God, or a schitafrenic God."

Option B. The End.
naomi; But you are a self-proclaimed ATHEIST ! Why this interests you (or the OP er) at all is a puzzle.

It's like a person with no interest whatsoever in say, tennis (me for example) finding whether or not Nadal's game has been better this year than it was the last, an absorbing question.
Lonnie - The mention of Dia jogged my memory.
If correct, I used to e mail you, ( now have a different e mail address).
My warmest wishes to you and your family.
Khandro, //It's like a person with no interest whatsoever in say, tennis//

No, it isn’t a bit like that because I do have an interest in religion and for several reasons. By the way, Lonnie is Jewish.

The fact that you know there is a tennis player named Nadal shows some level of interest........

Hi naomi, I never saw your or subsequent replies, I very seldom come on here now, but is nice to see your name on here again. I still have a problem with the God Question, eg, part of our service says that God is, (can go along with that), God will always be, (everlasting life is always a possibility), God was always there, before before anything else. (this one), I mean, how long was God there before he/she/it decided to create everything there is. addles my brain a bit (methinks I dwell on it too much)
