Did anyone else watch it? I was embarrassed by the awful offering of Ruby Turner and Jules Holland. Her diction and voice sounded awful and his piano style was not appropriate. With all the great singers we have, and they chose Jules and Ruby.

Agreed, singer and song didn't match. Also thought the choral pieces were awful, turned the sound off for them. Shame, for a traditional occasion why use avant garde music?

i thought it rather odd, but i watched all the rest with some tears for the Unknown Warrior.
U know wot ure getting with Jules. His style is well known and wudntve been invited if he was not an appropriate choice...
Personally, I thought it was an excellent rendition of Abide With Me.
Someone once said of 'later with Jools Holland', "I wish it was earlier & without Jools Holland".
i like Jools in the right setting, this wasn't it
Emmie,Why is he any diff to say Elton John?

It sounded to me like something you would hear in a pub.
Elton wouldn't have been appropriate at all.
Emmie,my point was that Elton performed at Princess Di's funeral.Appropriate?

U will always get folk who agree and disagree with wot is appropriate.

Elton John was excellent at Diana's funeral imo.
Elton is the go-to guy for a dirge.

Elton would be the last person I would choose! Even Cliff would be preferable.

Seriously, I think Ruby and Jules were totally not suitable. I don't dislike them, but they were just so wrong.
