It will be just 2 of us.

Any ideas for non traditional starter, mains, dessert?

French onion soup
Lamb with rosemary, vegetables as you see fit
Plum crumble with vanilla custard
Cheese with port
Brandy and chocolates
We've ordered bacon wrapped venison as a main.
Scallops, black pudding, pea puree to start

Beef Wellington with red wine and redcurrant jus, celeriac puree, assorted vegetables and roasties for mains.

Sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and clotted cream or salted caramel ice cream.

Cheeses, pickled walnuts, port for later.

Chapel Down English Sparkling Brut throughout.
Are you cooking yourself or buying prepared?

Cold dips with crudites for starters and salmon en croute for mains?
I would have an Indian delivered and have lots of nibbles and drinks.
Maggiebee - we re doing that next weekend for Diwali but it's a nice idea for Xmas as well !!
there a sentence you don't hear often

"We are getting bored of lobster thermidor"
We've decided on lamb for main, probably Christmas pud for dessert probably, just starters to decide upon. Maybe a prawn cocktail?
I’m going to do the Sunday lunch one pot tray thing I did a few weeks ago but instead of chicken thighs I’m going to use quick cook turkey steaks. We’ll have a pan of sprouts too, naturally, and probably a tray of m&s fancy ready prepared stuffing. So our main course will be kind of traditional but easy peasy.
I’m not sure if we’ll bother with a starter, perhaps just some bucks fizz, but for pud I’m doing lemon syllabub.
We’ve yet to decide on something a bit different for Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, and also New Years Eve, but as there’s just the two of us this year (as for many people) it’ll be something we both enjoy, maybe even bacon butties.
Crumbs - it's only November!
