I think I may have a problem with my iPad. I went to look up the papers on sky news and instead it picked up my IP address and brought up a page saying BT Home HUb has been set up, GET STARTED. It does this with some of my favourites as well but not all. I have had this router for a number of years and have never had this problem. I did not click on the GET STARTED as I saw no reason to do this. I recently did an Apple update. My iPad is the very first one that came out so is very old. Any ideas, thanks.

I think your wifi is disconnecting and you get that message when it reconnects. As long as your iPad is working properly and you can close that message easily I would ignore it

Not that, works fine on my iphone
I'll rephrase - I think your iPad is disconnecting from your wifi......

How can it be when I click on another item and it shows. Also the wi-fi icon is showing all the time.

I have set up Amazon smile on my favourites and instead it now brings up the main Amazon page, something is not right.
When your iPad gets old, you can no longer update it and then you can’t update your browser. This is Apple’s built in obsolescence. I had odd problems with mine when it reached this point, when the spec on some websites was too high for my out of date browser to deal with. This may be the problem with yours. I cracked eventually and bought a new one, but I don’t have an iPhone as backup.

I’m trying to hold out for the new iPad Pro which comes out next year, I have the original 12.9 iPad Pro which I use for everything. I am going to take the apps off that are causing problems and will not be doing any more updates from Apple. I am going to my friend’s house on Thursday so will see if it does the same thing with her router. Thanks for your comments, appreciated.
Not sure you have a first gen iPad. That came out in 2010 and ceased to be undatable many years ago at iOS 5. Do you mean you have a 2017 iPad Pro?

You should turn off your BT hub.
Empty cache and history in Safari.
Power off your iPad.
Turn on your hub.
Turn on your iPad
Reconnect to wifi.

The new iPad Air is better than the existing iPad and less expensive. It has pencil support.

I meant I think when your iPad goes to sleep it disconnects from the WiFi. As soon as you wake it up it reconnects and you get that message. How old is your iPad? Mine is over 3 years old and has just updated to the latest iOS
The iPad Pro was updated this year. It is generally on an 18 month renew cycle, so there will not be one next year.

Typo: The first gen iPad Pro came out in 2015.

I am talking about the iPad Pro, not the original iPads. The iPad Air is the newest model, which came out recently. The iPad Pro had a refresh this year, but a new one is due out early next year. I clear out the cache regularly and cookies etc with safari, the router is turned off every night. I will try rebooting the iPad, bit I think the latest update from Apple is the problem which I installed yesterday. Funny enough, I also have the original iPad which still works after 10 years, bit very slow. My iPad Pro is used for 5/6 hours every day so am very impressed with Apple products.
The iPad Air first went on sale in 2013, it all gets very confusing.
My iPad Pro (2017) updated to 14 yesterday thankfully without problems.
iPadOS 14 was released in September.
It has been updated 3 times and the most up to date version is 14.2 which came out last week.
Which version are you running ?

14.2
Barry,

My question was for the Riptide who has got a problem, not for you who hasn’t.

Sometimes .0 updates do have some bugs which take a couple of updates to clear up.
If riptide isn’t on 14.2, I would update if I were her.
Used to be with BT and unless you did the GET STARTED it would occasionally nag you to do it - so go through the process and hopefully it won't nag you again. Its per device.

Thanks all have just requested the 14.2 update which is downloading now. If it continues, will use the Get Started and see what happens. Strange nothing happens on my iPhone with these sites.
The phone and the tablet use similar but different software.
It maybe a component is failing, an antenna for example, but that is very unlikely.

Let’s see what happens.
