Sun Exp - 31d -Either of the times when the sun is furthest from the equator at noon, marking the longest and shortest days of the year. (8) so*s*i*e ? I thought equinox until I saw the grid.

Daily Exp - 37a - Alternative name for a carnation (5,4)
c*o*e **n* ? I presume it means the flower not dessert cream.
