I'm a pensioner with Type 2 diabetic and take Metformin tablets, I also take medication for high blood presure. I found the following online, and as I don't find it easy to contact my doctor these days, I throw the following question to sqad or anyone else out there to get an opinion.

Who shouldn't take glucosamine?

Check with your doctor before taking glucosamine if you have diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, bleeding disorders, or high blood pressure

As I take Glucosamine Sulphate 500mg and various other vitamins for some years now, I'd like to know any relevant views from learned ABers.

See 'Blood glucose levels' here and note in particular the final paragraph of that section:

(See also the second paragraph under 'Kidney toxicity', relating to a 67-year-old man with type 2 diabetes and hypertension).

Thank you Buenchico for sending that link.

I've noted what was stated in the 'Kidney toxicity' section. I feel I need to revaluate my thinking on the glucosamite sulphate I'm currently taking.

You have been taking glucosamine in what I consider to be oldest dose, presumably for osteo arthritis, for years.
During those years you will have had many blood tests for your underlying conditions which I presume haven't shown any " red flags" and as such I see no reason why you should worry or change your routine.
oldest should have read modest.

Thank you Sqad. Currently I'm taking Glucosamine Sulphate, described on the container as 'Glucosamine 393 mg, equivalent to Glucosamine Sulphate 500mg'.

I take one of these capsules a day, whereas I note on the container it states take one to two a day with meals.
As I said,a modest dose.
I foresee no problem.
