Anyone know the average broadband for a household is? Our usage is 107 GB a month plus mobile broadband. Just curious

Usage will, of course, vary widely depending on whether you watch videos/use catch-up TV or just do a bit of shopping/emailing etc. Our usage last month was 69GB which included a bit of catch-up TV, no movies or gaming and just general browsing.

Sharon - I'm with TalkTalk and, if you log in to your account, you can get information on your daily/monthly usage etc. I don't know what other ISPs provide.

In 2019, Ofcom reported,

"And people are using more data. The volume of data used on fixed and mobile connections both grew by around a quarter, with 240GB being used on average each month per fixed broadband connection and 2.9GB in an average month being used on each mobile data connection."

When our broadband was capped (several years ago), I used to keep a careful eye on usage (from your account page with your service provider, Sharon). But since it was upgraded to uncapped at no extra charge, I haven't bothered.

We're uncapped, so I don't usually bother to look. I just came across the information accidentally a few weeks ago when trying to find how to report a telephone fault.

My broadband provider emails me every month with that sort of information - to tell me what a bargain and great service I get :)

Fortunately (and coincidentally) our upgrade (from John Lewis Phone and Broadband) came just a few days after purchase of our first smart TV...otherwise using catch-up and Amazon Video etc. would have been VERY expensive!

Think mine is about 240, I watch catchup all the time and utube which eats it up. Luckily unlimited broadband usage with BT.

I do. And I'm paying for far more than I use. I have 30 Gigawosnames allowance per month. Most months I'm lucky to use five. My mobile phone shows my usage (2 Gigawosnames per month allowance) in the form of a pie chart. Most months I don't even register a large enough slice of the pie for it to be visible.
