Yes, but Google says the same, standing in front of it.
I've decided to get one for my new house as I'll be able to actually get it through the doors. I wanted one a few years ago but my current hallway is far too small to angle it through the living room door.

Need to make a decision on where to position it as well.
tigger, my sofas are very large in leather and a very good make. They came in two parts - seat and back so could easily get through my awkward hallway. I've had them at least 12 years and they are still as good as they were when I bought them, nobody would think they came in parts.
"Yes, but Google says the same, standing in front of it. " - show me. that picture is a sofa retailer
Two of my daughters have them but they are individual chairs that hook up together. That way you dont need to know left or right or so it seems.

I had one in the early 80's. Horrid thing it was.
Ttt, I c&p'ed what Google says just earlier. According to them, if you stand in front of it, the longer side is the 'side' it is called, which is the opposite to your picture.
This is why I got separate settees and pushed them together with a side table... lol
Barry, my living room is also quite small so it would've taken up too much room. My hallway is as wide as the staircase and the doorway to the living room stands against the stair wall so there's no more hallway beyond that. Its quite a small house. Can't wait to move....
pixie, this? //What is a Left Hand / Right Hand Corner Sofa? A left-hand Sofa means the Chaise (Long part) of the sofa is on the left-hand side of the sofa, if you were stood looking at it, and vice versa for a right-hand sofa.// - ok so you are standing facing the short side of the L and the left hand side is long and on your left? agreed? so now go and stand behind the long side and the short side is on your right. Just their way of saying the same thing. We are agreeing.
I literally have done that with mine just now. Standing in front, short side on right. Standing behind, short side on left. So, no actually.
Draw it...
That agrees with Google, roy.
" literally have done that with mine just now. Standing in front, short side on right. " - so you are facing the long side, yes?

is yours defined as a left hand facing? is that what you understand it to be?
Isn't it relative to which you're facing? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
roy's picture is left hand facing, if you stand behind the long side the short side is on your right. That's what I have been saying all along.
I do, according to google, it would be left-handed, as that is the longer side.
However, if I stand behind the long side, the short is on my left. I am genuinely a bit baffled, i don't mind who is right or wrong, I'm seeing yours as the opposite.

This is the opposite.
The first part is right, the second is wrong.
